PAPER QUILLING
OPTION 2: You may use found items at home. (item to roll paper (see ideas I listed below) glue, multi-colored paper, paper shredder (single) or shred paper with a pasta machine.
To roll paper: use a chopstick, toothpick, coffee stirrer, Bic pen or your fingers...you may experiment with items to find the one that works best for you and have the best result. When your quill roll is set, you glue it into place and glue it down to make your design on cardstock paper or other medium of your choice. Paper Quilling Art NOTE: to make your paper longer, neatly tape 2-3 pieces of paper together lengthwise (11") BEFORE putting paper through the paper shredder. You may want to experiment with using two different colors taped together for a different effect. Where can you buy alcohol ink? You may purchase it online or check out places like Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Joann's (Joann's is only sold online).. To help cut expenses, save your 40 or 50% coupons to purchase your alcohol ink. What IS Paper Quilling?
Paper quilling (also known as paper filegree), has been around since the Renaissance period when nuns and monks used thin strips of paper to decorate book covers and religious items (WIKI source). The 1/8" strips may be rolled, looped, twisted and glued to make a shape (see examples on left & below). At that point you take the quilled shapes and make a design with them.
