LESSON 1: Getting to know Agent Sheets and Frogger
I can...
___learn the Frogger storyline by viewing the Youtube video of the original Frogger & play Happy Hopper.
___develop a storyline for my own Frogger game.
___get acquainted with Agent Sheets by opening it and saving my first project as Frogger Name Block and checking out the menu bar.
___take Quiz 1 (NOTE: You can retake the test if needed)
___take home a parent permission slip to participate in the Agent Sheets study (I will also be able to load my game online to share with others).
Spend some time to get acquainted with the Frogger game and establish a good story line for your game.
To get a better idea how the story line is developed in the game, watch MAME: World Record Frogger, a video of the original Frogger game (4:36). What features do you notice about Frogger that you would like to adopt for your game? How does sound and other activities help make the game more entertaining?
When you have watched the video, play the Happy Hopper game. Make note of the characters in the story, the settings, and behaviors of each of the characters (called AGENTS). How is the original game compare to Happy Hopper?
Decide if you want to develop your Frogger game to simulate the Frogger game OR create your own characters and modify the settings. Take some time to think "What's Your Story" line and how you want your game to play out.
Open Agent Sheets and take a look at the menu bar features. You need to create your first project...File...New Project-Name it FROGGER with your name and block (i.e. Frogger John Brown S2).
Frogger Game History: Frogger was an arcade game developed by Konami and disseminated through Sega for North America in 1981. The game went from an arcade game to a home game using Atari. The object of the game is for the frog to safely cross the road without being hit by a vehicle, jump on the logs, avoid the crocodiles and make it safely to the Grotto. Frogger, Pong, Pac Man and several other video games were the framework for coding today. The framework and behaviors are the same, but today's advanced graphics have greatly improved the games we know and enjoy today. Without these games from the 80s, we wouldn't appreciate the technology we enjoy now.
